Hey Mainframe, I finally listened to the two episodes out, great job. I love the interview format and I love the questions you use to find out about your guest's geek life.
ReplyDeleteSome constructive criticism here
While your bumpers and promos are great (really great, love them) bumpers are meant to be between things, not between other bumpers. Space them out, play one at a time. Also, play one at the beginning, one at the end and perhaps one between topics. For instance you could play one between the intro of who your guest is and the part of the conversation where you talk about comic books, then another between comic books and the computers he/she uses.
In each episode so far the listener has to hear more bumpers and promos in the beginning that unless the listener knows there is something good coming (like me) they are more likely to turn off your podcast and switch to something else.
Keep up the great work, I am already thinking of a bumper I can record for you
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to trust more that listeners will make it to the end & put the promos at the end. I will also pay particular attention to how some other podcasts handle their bumpers better.
I will also read the bumpers section of "Podcasting for Dummies" (written by the awesome and talented Tee Morris & Chuck Tomasi).
Finally, I am still refining my interviewing approach. I'm sure that I'll be able to more clearly transition between topics & fit bumpers & promos in better.
Thanks for being the really cool twitter friend that you are.
I'm really looking forward to your bumper and I'm sure I will find a good place for it. :)
